BOUNDARY-BREAKING DRAG ICON SASHA VELOUR MAKES HER DEBUT IN FINLAND

Beloved American drag artist, author, producer, visual artist, and activist Sasha Velour makes her debut in Helsinki. Known for her gender-bending artistry and spectacular stage productions, Velour will appear at House of Culture in Helsinki on May 11, 2026, as part of her upcoming Travesty tour.

Ticket sales begin on Friday, January 30 at 10am via Lippu.fi.

Sasha Velour has firmly established herself as one of the most significant drag artists of our time. She rose to international fame after winning season nine of the Emmy Award–winning series RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2017. Following her victory, Velour has toured the world with two widely acclaimed one-queen stage shows, Smoke & Mirrors (2019–2022) and The Big Reveal (2023–2025), presented in more than 60 prestigious theaters worldwide.

Velour is also the creator and host of the legendary New York–based NightGowns series. Running for over a decade, NightGowns is considered one of the most influential drag performance platforms of all time. Her namesake production company, House of Velour, has produced live shows and video content for clients including HBO, New York Fashion Week, MAC Cosmetics, and Absolut Vodka, and has been widely praised for redefining the drag industry in bold and innovative ways.

Alongside her performance and production work, Velour published the bestselling book The Big Reveal: An Illustrated Manifesto of Drag in 2023. The book explores the often-overlooked history of drag, weaving it together with Velour’s own personal experiences. She is also an active visual artist and illustrator, having published several comic works, designed a Google Doodle honoring Marlene Dietrich, and created her award-winning self-portrait for the cover of The New Yorker in 2023.

Travesty premieres in March in Washington, DC, at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. True to Velour’s signature style, the production combines lip sync, video art, and storytelling into an ambitious, immersive experience. The stage work is at once performance art, history, and a call to action — a celebration of drag’s political power, camp, and resistance that leaves audiences screaming, dancing, and heading home ready to change the world.
