British rock band Pale Blue Eyes will open the evening
After a six-year break, retro-futur and 80s-influenced synthwave band The Midnight will return to Finland and perform at Helsinki's Kulttuuritalo on Wednesday 17 September. Tickets go on sale on Friday 21 February at 10AM on Lippu.fi.
The Midnight, consisting of Tyler Lyle and Tim McEwan, draws inspiration for their production from 80s pop culture. The band's influences include AOR artists such as Journey, Van Halen and Phil Collins, the soundscapes of early video games, the synthesizer scores of Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter, and the music of Top Gun and Back to the Future films. Among contemporary references, The Midnight's electronic synthpop soundscape has been compared in particular to the award-winning music of Drive and bands like Kavinsky and Futurecop!
The Midnight have released five studio albums in their career since 2012, the most recent being Heroes, released in 2022. The album concludes the trilogy of previous studio albums Kids (2018) and Monsters (2020).
The band last performed in Finland at the sold-out Tavastia Club in 2019. The night will be opened by a British moderinst pop creating and retro synths utilizing Pale Blue Eyes.
