Seefeel have created a distinctive way of combining rock, ambient, and electronic music, building a sound ahead of its time that paved the way for the IDM movement even before the genre came into existence. The band’s early work was closely associated with the shoegaze scene, but Seefeel quickly developed their own style rooted in samplers and heavily processed textures.
Released in 1993, the debut album Quique led to a recording deal with the influential Warp Records. Later in the decade, the albums Succour and Ch-Vox expanded and deepened the band’s electronic direction, before Seefeel went on an extended hiatus.
Following their return in the 2010s, Seefeel have released new music at a steady pace. Their most recent releases, the 2024 Everything Squared EP and the album Squared Roots demonstrate that the band’s fearless and exploratory approach remains very much alive.
Live, the band constructs hypnotic performances in which tracks unfold through heavy bass frequencies and layered soundscapes. Electronic glitches and guitar-based textures merge into an immersive, almost meditative experience.
