THE MELVINS

THE MELVINS

The Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover. Known for their heavy, sludgy sound that combines elements of punk, metal, and experimental rock, the Melvins are often credited as pioneers of the sludge and grunge genres. Their early music, particularly albums like Gluey Porch Treatments (1987) and Ozma (1989), influenced bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden, helping to shape the Seattle grunge scene.

The band's lineup has shifted over the years, with Osborne and Crover remaining the core members. With a prolific catalog spanning several decades, the Melvins are known for their genre-defying music, blending crushingly slow riffs, unconventional rhythms, and a dark sense of humor. They have maintained a dedicated cult following and have remained creatively active, continuing to push boundaries with each new release.
