The Breeders are an American alternative rock band formed in 1989 by Kim Deal of Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses. Initially a side project, the band became a major force in the 1990s alternative scene with its distinct blend of raw, melodic grunge and indie rock. Their 1993 album, Last Splash, featuring the hit single "Cannonball," brought them mainstream success and critical acclaim, showcasing Deal's unique songwriting and signature bass lines. After various lineup changes and hiatuses, the band reunited in the 2000s with its classic lineup and continues to tour and release new music, cementing its legacy in indie and alternative rock.
