The story of the band SQÜRL began in 2009 when filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, known for films such as Down By Law, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Broken Flowers, teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Carter Logan and producer Shane Stoneback to create music for Jarmusch’s then-current film The Limits of Control. Originally founded under the name Bad Rabbit, the group later became known as SQÜRL and has since composed the soundtracks for Jarmusch’s three most recent films: Only Lovers Left Alive (2013), Paterson (2016), and The Dead Don’t Die (2019). The band has also released several EPs and a live album through Jack White's Third Man Records.
SQÜRL's music reflects Jarmusch’s love for stoner riffs, hip-hop, ambient drones, and Neil Young-inspired roots rock.
