Norther are pioneers of Finnish melodic death metal, known for their powerful sound, intricate musicianship and energetic live performances.
Originally formed as Requiem in 1996, the band adopted the name Norther in 1999 and rose to international prominence in the early 2000s. Their breakthrough album, Mirror of Madness (2003), established Norther as one of Finland’s most prominent melodic death metal acts. It was followed by the acclaimed albums Death Unlimited (2004), Till Death Unites Us (2006) and N (2008).
After disbanding in 2012, Norther return to the stage in summer 2027 with their classic line-up and new music in the works. Their first confirmed festival appearances include Wacken Open Air in Germany and Brutal Assault in the Czech Republic.
Norther’s classic line-up features Petri Lindroos (vocals, guitar), Kristian Ranta (guitar), Jukka Koskinen (bass), Tuomas Planman (keyboards) and Heikki Saari (drums).
