Lauantaidisko is a nightlife institution. From the Helsinki-based DJ collective has emerged unparalleled masters of versatile pop music, who assemble the strongest sets from fresh hits, best classics, and forgotten gems for any situation. Behind it lies, of course, the legendary club night at Tavastia, which filled dance floors from 2009 until spring 2024, where quality music and honest fun brought together hundreds of thousands of visitors over 650 nights before concluding on the eve of May Day 2024. More is to come through gigs and also in the form of their own events.
Lauantaidisko DJs have performed at festivals from Flow to Ruisrock and Provinssi, twice on Slush's main stage and at events across the board, as well as hosting shows on Radio Helsinki. The lineup of Lauantaidisko DJs consists of DJs Erkko, Luna, Mini, and Harvest, who all perform both together – usually as a duo – and separately, with decades of experience.
ERKKO is the boss and founder of Lauantaidisko and the central figure of the DJ crew. His background is deep in electronic music, but his heart beats strongly for pop music in its various forms, from forgotten gems to the latest novelties, with a focus on their creative and sometimes crazy combinations. He has experience from bars to arenas, in addition to dozens of club nights, working as a journalist and on the radio at YleX and Radio Helsinki, as well as a long-term stint in the Flow festival's program group. In addition, he is involved in organizing Stadin Juhannus event together with Skenikswene.
LUNA The newest addition to the DJ team is Luna, who has been a familiar face at Lauantaidisko for years, known from the lower floor of Semifinal. Starting her career a decade ago in the Scifibimboes duo, Luna masters the entire spectrum of quality pop and lists her favorites as electropop, rap by female artists, and the hits of the 90s and 2000s. Luna particularly enjoys introducing new songs and strives to be the wildest dancer in the DJ booth, whose energy also radiates to the audience.
HARVEST is the trusted man in the DJ booth at Lauantaidisko and a relentless dancer. The favorites of the old skateboarder include the golden age of hip-hop and buzzing indie rock, but the hard-working DJ selects the best dance tunes for any situation, whether it's beloved classics or the hottest new tracks. In addition to Lauantaidisko, Harvest, who regularly performs at Paha Vaanii events focusing on domestic music at Siltanen, also contributes to the Flow festival's program group and is busy compiling playlists.
MINI Of Lauantaidisko's regular DJs, Mini now performs less frequently but with even greater expertise. Initially inspired by synth-pop, the DJ got people dancing at pop discos even before many of the Ladi attendees were born, and that solid experience still shines through. Currently, he holds the position of promoter for Finland's largest and most beautiful festival, Ruisrock. Holding a top spot in the music business, he stays firmly up-to-date with the latest trends in pop music, often allowing audiences to enjoy future hits at his DJ gigs before many have even heard of them.
