Multi-instrumentalist-composer-producer Joe Acheson's Hidden Orchestracombines jazz, classical, electronica, ambient, post-rock and trip hop with organic sounds.
Founded in Edinburgh in 2009, Hidden Orchestra was born from the vision of the band's musical director Joe Acheson to create an imaginary ensemble made up of a number of guest studio musicians. The band, which has drawn comparisons to Portishead, Four Tet and Massive Attack, among others, has released four studio albums, the latest being To Dream Is To Forget, released in 2023. The darkly orchestral compositions are brought to life in front of an audience with live band members Poppy Ackroyd (piano, violin), Tim Lane (drums) and Jamie Graham (drums). The visually striking and atmospheric performances have received rave reviews from around the world.
