Free Carmen is a four-piece alternative rock band. Over the course of a three-year creative process, the group has developed and refined their sound, which materialized in the fall of 2024 when the band retreated to E-Studio to record not just one but two albums together with Väinö Karjalainen (known for his work with Arppa, J. Karjalainen, Ursus Factory).
Free Carmen's sound is rooted in the power of live performance and organic expression. Solstice I is the band’s self-produced debut album, with songs that progress like the seasons—from light toward darkness. Inspired by the themes of the solstice, the double album will be released in two parts, timed with the summer and winter solstices of 2025, exactly six months apart. The debut, released at Midsummer, will be followed by the second part of the album, Solstice II, which comes out on the darkest day of the year, December 21st.
