Founded in Toronto in 2010 by Alexander Sowinski, Chester Hansen, and Matthew Tavares, BADBADNOTGOOD has pushed the limits of jazz with a modern approach, crafting new sonic landscapes while staying true to the genre’s traditions.
The two-time Grammy-winning group seamlessly blends jazz, hip-hop, and alternative music, embracing experimentation with an open mind. BADBADNOTGOOD is also renowned for its collaborations with top artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, The Creator, Ghostface Killah, Turnstile, and Kaytranada.
Over their 15-year career, the band has released six studio albums alongside a range of collaborations, live recordings, and mixtapes. Their latest full-length album, Mid Spiral (2024), echoes the finest productions of the 1970s, diving into jazz-funk, jazz-rock, and psychedelia.
