Moving seamlessly between New Age and classical minimalism, Pakistani singer-songwriter Arooj Aftab's music takes the listener to different landscapes and spaces, combining Sufi poetry and trance influences. The musically complex compositions definitely come into their own live, with a wide range of instruments and vocals in both English and Pakistani. Aftab has won Grammy awards and made NPR's 200 Greatest Songs by 21st Century Women.
